Wallace and McCoist at odds over managers’ wage cut.

Graham Wallace has claimed that Ally McCoist’s wages have been cut- three days after the Sevco manager revealed he hadn’t signed a reduced deal.

Two months after being appointed Chief Executive Wallace is in the firing line as he attempts to cut costs in order to see off administration.

Last week the first team playing squad rejected plans to take a 15% wage cut with every expense under investigation as the final pounds of the £22m share issue run out.

In an interview in today’s Scotsman Wallace was asked whether McC0ist’s massive £850,000 salary had been cut with the CE replying: “Yes, he has. Ally and I reached agreements on that not long after I got here and it was put in place.”

Asked to clarify whether the cut was in place Wallace confirmed: “He has agreed to it and it has happened. I can confirm on both counts.”

That version of events is at odds with what McCoist told STV on Friday.

Looking nervous and uncomfortable about the subject the former Question of Sport skipper said: “As soon as the contract is put in front of me I’ll sign it.  The deal is done, it’s agreed, as soon as the contract is put in front of me I’ll do it.”

With a £400,000 salary cut under dispute it’s little wonder that there are concerns about finances at Ibrox.

McCoist’s summer spending spree on nine new players has guaranteed the League One title but the cost of that success could be brutal with administration during this season invoking a points reduction.

With ten days left in the transfer window it seems that any offer for a player will be accepted by Wallace who has opened the door to the sale of former Hearts left-back Lee Wallace.

Asked if he would accept a bid of half a million or a million pounds for Lee Wallace the Ibrox chief admitted: “I woudn’t rule anything in or out. We will consider all of our options at the time when there is a decision to be made.”

Despite the confusion over McCoist’s salary Wallace insists that he gets on well with the clubs’ manager.

He added: “Ally and I have the semblance of a very good working relationship given that it’s been less than two months. We talk multiple times a day.

“My focus on the footballing side is to be able to support what we need from a squad perspective but with a firm business hand.

“He knows the magnitude of the financial challenge. He and I have had that conversation. We’re in sync. It’s not like there is a level of information that I have that he’s not privy to from a football squad perspective.

“We have what is widely known as the second most expensive squad in Scotland and we’re two divisions behind. That does present a challenge.”

How poor is their team ?
    Only 1 saleable asset.

We are leagues apart, in more ways than
    one.

I know we should only really be concerned with our own club but I just love these stories about the fat twins. Long may it last.

The combined suggested cuts to wee Ally and the players only amounts to just under 11% of the one million savings a month needed just to break even. I truly believe that the spivs are attempting to liquidate this new club in order to sell off the crumble dome, Murray Park and the Albion car park. Why else would the spivs hang in there with their investment money now standing at 24 pence a share, the sale of the three mentioned assests would realise a combined fifty million which would be divided amongst the share holders ( spivs ) as there is apparently no paper debts or face painters to be owed.

55 players on their books, a manager payed £800k, two full time coaches, a wage bill of £7m, hiring consultants at god knows a pop, the running costs of minty park, overnight accom at the prestigious Carnoustie hotel before playing the mighty Forfar, season tickets at poundland prices, and sponsors wiping their feet on the way out.
The list is endless for the newest club in scottish football of reasons why they will never ever be regarded as anything but a stain on our game and even when they got the oppertunity to
Clean up their act they decided to throw more shit over themselves.
The establishment will never step in to put them out their misery which when you think about it, it’s a bit inhumane but for the rest of us its the greatest show on earth watching them tear themselves apart. This next phase I think will be like watching the cringeworthiest of cringeworthy movies as the pie sellers, the canteen staff, the cleaners and so on will be laid off while the spivs and management will still be eating their succulent lamb.
Never have I been so thankful to be a Celtic supporter.
    hail hail

Oh come on you guys, Scottish football would be better off with the Old firm back in the top division.
We need a strong and vibrant Rangers to compete against
Nah, I canny do this without laughing, sorry! Anyone got some spare jelly & ice-cream?

  • Andybhoy says:

What a circus that club is!

It tells you enough when a manager tries to get HIMSELF sacked! That is exactly what McCoist is doing because he knows if he chucks it his ‘we don’t do walking away’ speech would sound more hollow than a Chuckles Green transfer warchest so he now goes out of his way to undermine the sevco board at every opportunity to try and force their hand.

Unfortunately for McCoist the board know exactly how that one would be played out in the Scottish press so will sit tight until the zombie hordes call for McCoist’s head…as their starter. Well even an entire zombie horde would want to start with something light before tackling that main course. F*ck, it would probably be the only time you would hear a zombie utter the words ‘you know whit a cannae finish that, am full.’

Seriously that club makes the banks look like honest, competent well run businesses.

    Hail Hail.

Although I enjoy the gift that keeps on giving from govan, few points:
am I alone in looking forward to them coming back into top flight so our domestic league is more enjoyable? Ground empty!!

Its not the wage bill that screwed them is it? Its the leeches pretending to be fans bleeding them (hee hee)

does anyone think that getting out div 1 may not be a gimme wi a sh!te team more akin to that level?

And finally…would U sign Wallace as cover for izzy as an adamzchuk type round ye!….but also as cover

  • Tomtom says:
