Stuart Findlay Celtic newsCeltic defender Stuart Findlay is set to join Morton on loan.

The 18-year-old captained Celtic in the u-19 Champions League and has been capped by Scotland at every level up to u-21.

Morton are currently anchored at the bottom on the Championship with new manager Kenny Shiels attempting to avoid relegation.

Former Scotland striker Garry O’Connor has already moved to Cappielow with the Greenock side taking Sevco kid Barrie Mackay on loan from Ibrox.

Mackay scored the only goal of the game on Saturday as Morton won 1-0 away to Livingston to cut the gap with second bottom Cowdenbeath down to five points.

The move to Morton continues the trend of sending players out on loan to assist their development with Paul George joining Hamilton Accies last week.

Callum McGregor, Jackson Irvine and Tony Watt are also out on loan with all three enjoying regular first team football.

While Findlay prepares to move to Cappielow Celtic’s u-20 side will be in Greenock to face Aberdeen with comebacks scheduled for Marcus Fraser and Joe Chalmers.

Neither player has played a competitive game this season but featured for the first team in the recent friendly with Galatasaray.

Fraser suffered a cruciate ligament injury in March with Chalmers undergoing hip surgery at the end of last season.

The return of both players will be a welcome boost for everyone at the club with the duo having come through the ranks together from the age of 11.

Fraser made his first team debut against Rennes in the 2010/11 Europa League campaign with Chalmers making his first top team appearance in last season’s 4-2 win over Inverness Caley Thistle.

Good to the youngsters get some proper game time. Hopefully we can get more game time for the fringe players with our first team in the second half of the season. This is as good a chance as you can get to try players out.
