Green Brigade newsThe Green Brigade returned to Celtic Park today for the visit of St Johnstone.

The popular fans group have been absent for almost three months after being wrongly blamed for crowd trouble at the Motherwell v Celtic match in December.

Despite intense media scrutiny none of those charged with damaging seats at Fir Park were members of the Green Brigade. Fifteen minutes before kick-off in today’s match a group of fans entered the south east corner of the Lisbon Lions stand and congregated behind a banner saying GREEN BRIGADE.

Following the trouble at Fir Park Celtic suspended a number of season-tickets in Section 111 with fans offered a refund of their money or a ticket to another area of the stadium.

Come on you bhoys in greenFollowing the suspension of the Green Brigade the atmosphere at Celtic Park has dipped badly with the pre-Christmas matches against Hibs and Hearts particularly quiet.

Whether the Green Brigade are back on a permanent basis remains to be seen with news expected on their website.

With the drums rolling and chants back in place Celtic kicked off in the sunshine against St Johnstone with Leigh Griffiths partnering Anthony Stokes in attack.

Nir Biton also came into the side partnering Stefan Johansen in the centre of midfield with Georgios Samaras relegated onto the bench.

Eighteen minutes into the match Celtic took the lead through Anthony Stokes with the striker running towards the re-located Green Brigade to celebrate. Celtic started the match 18 points ahead of second placed Aberdeen who they face at Pittodrie on Tuesday week after Saturday’s trip to Tynecastle.

Night and day is the difference in atmosphere today and the last 3 months, welcome back bhoys, now behave yourself and get behind the team

  • Tully says:

Great to have them back as what a difference they make.

  • Tony McGurk says:

If they stick to supporting the team, behave themselves and forget about all of their political crap, they’ll be made as welcome as any other fans. But will they learn from past experience?

    • Aldo says:

more welcome than fans who treat the match like a library or an opera and refuse to sing and get behind team

  • Jimmy bee says:

To tony the snp has made it a political issue m8 it is their absurd law which criminalises fans not the fault of the green brigade.
    Welcome home bhoys and ghirls.

  • Ballybough says:

Jimmy, forget Palestine and The Poppy protests and support Celtic full stop-the law doesn’t stop you doing that and it hasn’t stopped me for fifty odd years.

  • john flaherty says:

could not be there today but heard the “noise” .on the criminalisation of fans , an Aberdeen boy was sent down for calling Neil a f+++++n bastard ,the bastard calling was no doubt an insult but feinian , excuse me the name given to a third century warrior , I would be so proud. sorry

    • paranoidandroid says:

Feinian bastard, Scottish bastard, or even ugly bastard, I don’t feel in the least bit insulted by any of them- and I’d be quite proud being called either of the first two.

      • C.C.Belter. says:

Yep, i’m with you there para, if they are calling you names we must be doing something right.

  • seaney67 says:

  • yogithebear67 says:

Great to see the GB back and creating such a good atmosphere today. Now let’s see the empty seats filled for the remainder of another successfull season – forget the cup result and the negativity in the Scottish MSM from fannys like Nicholas and Keevins etc. God bless Lenny and long may he remain manager of the best football club in the world. Hail, hail.

  • Big Mike says:

Welcome back the GB, only thing why are you out of sight of camera excepting a few shots. Loud and Proud and should be back in your own area also.

  • peter says:

    Joe,on the ball,as usual.

The Celtic Family is back together again,
with the return of the Green Brigade.Fan
involvement, has always been part of the
    Celtic cause.

On taking my seat, it was uplifting to see
and hear, the return of our vocal support.
It was great to hear ‘ Come On You Bhoys
In Green ‘ resounding around Paradise
    again.
Humour was also present, when the GB
took their tops off,and waved them in the
air.I hope the GB dust down some of their
mocking banners of Sevco,as they are always good for a laugh.

Watch the reaction from the MSM and the
Zombies. They enjoyed that there was no
    GB at Celtic Park.
    HaHa HaHa HaHaHaHaHaHa

  • tricia mcdermid says:

Welcome back to where you belong…….you were missed….don’t ever go away again……..!

  • Hector says:

Welcome back to Paradise, now the GB are back I will be back, what a shocking way to treat your own.

  • Bhoy67 says:

I go to Celtic Park to support Celtic – not the Green Brigade. Some of you have short memories. Regardless of the atmosphere they bring , they have also brought fines and bad press to the club. Three months and all is forgotten and forgiven .. don’t think so!

    • peter says:

      Bhoy67

      Away and dry your eyes.
      He who’s without sin…
Maybe you were,or still are, an altar bhoy !!

As for the bad press, don’t buy the daily dump or the hun.Their agendas against our
club makes them not fit for purpose.

      • C.C.Belter. says:

Peter, I’ve never bought, or read, the daily dump since they followed the Team down to Newcastle for their Christmas night-out, they went down there to catch the Team letting off steam in the hope of getting a drunken police-linked Story, they were caught out, I hate the Fcuking paper now, we have so many Daily “Stars” in our Team now, I know they are not a million miles from each other but they haven’t followed the Team around and cherry-picked…Hail..Hail.

        • peter says:

          CC Belter,

          Agree,re daily dump @ Newcastle.

I too don’t buy this useless rag.All Tims
should boycott it,and see them suffer.

I was in the garage earlier,if you haven’t seen their front page headline,
          it reads, ” They’re back..By unpopular
          demand ”

First, pathetic to be on the front page,
          like Newcastle.
Second, how do they know how ALL
          Celtic fans feel ?
It is malicious, designed to continue to
drive a wedge between fans.I predicted this last night in my first post.

Thankfully, like you,and most posters on here, bar 2,we want to be united again, and the Green Brigade are welcomed back, but have to FOCUS on
their support for Celtic ONLY !!

          CHEERS, HH

    • Aldo says:

want the address for mitchell library?

  • HoopNo7 says:

    Peter

Unkind of you to shoot down bhoy67 for speaking the truth… I agree CP has been quiet without the GB but it is true that in wake of banners, fines, flares and bad press, the comments on this site alone were damning from supporters of our club towards GB.

Roll on 3 months and we love them again?

So it is true. Short memories. Although, all been said, im happy to have a chant and a bounce along with them but as long as flares etc are left outside, i dont think my two kids need to see that at a football match.

    • peter says:

      Hoops No7,

      Sorry,I was NOT being unkind.
My point is once damned,so they have to
      be eternally damned ?

      NO

To dwell in the past, and not see a brighter future is very narrow-minded.
I am sure the GB have accepted, their
love for Celtic, and what they bring to Celtic Park, will now be their ONLY focus.

Hail Hail to the GREEN BRIGADE !!

  • pjdivo says:

    Bhoy67

    Couldnt agree more mate.
Cause no end ov grief. Its shocking celtic even offered them all a refund aftr all the fines theyv racked up.
Obviously the atmosphere they create is welcome but they hav their own agenda and I dont giv a **** about it tbh.
The thunder can be brought back through entertaining the fans. No the bevyed up GB.

    • peter says:

      pjdivo,

The GB made the club PLENTY !!

Don’t also dwell in the past, if they upset
you that much, STAY AWAY !!

    • daniel docherty says:

did they deserve all the bad press
did others deserve similar press and not receive it
forgive move on and remember so the same things do not happen again

      • C.C.Belter. says:

Your right Daniel,…..lesson learned..move on to celebrate this Seasons displays and Victories….together.!!

  • Thomas Haverstock says:

Well done the GB glad that you’s are back were you’s belong Keep up the good work Missed you’s Hail Hail JMJ

  • pjdivo says:

    Peter,

is that ur message to all fans who think as I do? Wer to “STAY AWAY” because I dnt agree with the GBs agendas and pyrotechnics which get the club into all sorts ov bother?

Wel thank **** its not up too you:) the GB wer offered a refund. Not me.

    • peter says:

      pjdivo,

      I wouldn’t go somewhere,where I felt
uncomfortable. If you despise the GB so
      much,why go to CP ?

I thought this was sound advise for you ?

Also,do you only post here when your
      angry and negative ?

Give us a positive post ?
