Willie Collum Celtic newsBlundering Willie Collum will referee Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie between Celtic and Aberdeen.

The Lanarkshire based referee has already been in charge of five Celtic matches this season including the 7-0 rout of Hearts in the last round of the Scottish Cup.

Earlier this season Collum refereed Celtic’s 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie when Dons keeper Jamie Langfield was red carded in the incident that provided Celtic with the opening goal from a Kris Commons penalty.

Earlier in the season Collum went on a run of giving out ten red cards in ten games including doubles in consecutive matches between St Johnstone v Kilmarnock, St Mirren v Ross County and Dundee United v Partick Thistle. During those three games 15 players were also booked.

Collum is regarded as being Scotland’s number 2 referee behind Craig Thomson but since their five star winter break in La Manga referees have come under greater criticism due to a host of baffling decisions.

Sunday’s Inverness Caley Thistle v Hearts League Cup semi-final was blighted by a horrendous display by John Beaton who sent off two Gary Warren and Josh Meekings of Caley Thistle.

After the game Caley Thistle boss John Hughes said: “There are two guys who are going to miss that final in Josh Meekings and Gary Warren that deserve to be there.

“I just felt there were one or two decisions that I find hard to work out. I don’t think Gary Warren’s first one was a booking. The second one was even worse.

“And is Josh Meekings’ a red card? All he has done is tripped him. Let’s say it is a red card. I don’t want to see anyone get sent off.

“Is that any worse than the boy Robinson’s in the first five minutes? Two-footed right in front of the dugout. I don’t think it was and I played the game 25 years.

“It doesn’t add up to me. And then two honest hard-working boys are going to miss the final.”

Caley Thistle have appealed against Meekings red card.

Collum teaches in an RC school. But,it’s well known his Dad is a Sevco supporter.
He too, was brought up as a fan of the deid club.
Is his integrity to be questioned ?
Yes, we have seen many decisions against
our club, that couldn’t be classified as an
    ‘ honest ‘ mistake.

The Celtic players will be fired up,due to
the welcome Lenny received from the
    sheep.
So Collum should not be a factor in this game.
