leigh griffiths teacakeLeigh Griffiths couldn’t hide his joy as Hibs beat Hearts 2-0 yesterday.

The win keeps Alan Stubbs’ side on course to finish second and avoid an additional round of play off matches.

A year ago Griffiths found himself in a bit of bother going to a match at Tynecastle but yesterday he reserved his enjoyment to his twitter account.

Delighted for @ElAlagui, he had a long road to recovery, and today his finish was the mark of a true striker, composed. Well done mate,” he tweeted after the striker had scored the clinching second goal in stoppage time.

After suffering three defeats on the bounce wins over Dumbarton and Hearts have given Hibs some confidence with three games left to play.

“Two weeks ago we were being questioned, people were asking if this was the wobble and was this Hibs season ending again,” Stubbs admitted.

“Football can change very quickly. Suddenly after two results we are building momentum again. I think the players have always answered the criticism.

“We’ve just had a couple of results where we didn’t perform poorly, we were just on the wrong end of the result.

“I thought today we were great, first half especially. We had ?opportunities towards the end of the first half to go further ahead, then Hearts came into the game and they got some decent balls into the box.”

Hibs face Livingston, Alloa and Falkirk in their closing fixtures and play Falkirk on Saturday in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.
