Scott Allan tonight completed his transfer to Celtic, signing a four year contract with the Scottish champions.

Speaking to the Celtic website the midfielder said: “I am absolutely delighted to sign for Celtic, such a fantastic club. It is such an honour to be given this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started and play my part in bringing success to Celtic and our supporters.

“There are so many exciting challenges ahead for us now in Scotland and in Europe and I am looking forward to being part of all that lies ahead. I know a number of players well at the club already, so it will be great to team up with these lads again as well as all my other new team-mates, and I know we will work hard together to bring more good times to our fans.

I know the high-quality of players at the club and I know it will be a big personal challenge for me but it’s one I’m ready for and one I am relishing. I would like to thank the many fans who have already welcomed me to the club. I really appreciate this support.”

The signature completes a whirlwind 24 hours for the young midfielder with Celtic completing their business without resorting to amateur hour tactics from a third rate, one contract, tacky PR company.

Celtic moved quickly to agree an outline deal with Hibs and personal terms with the player before negotiations continued over the players moving to Easter Road.

Allan has kept a low profile throughout the summer despite the campaign of Ibrox ambassadors, as Alan Stubbs dubbed them, to talk up an inevitable move to Mark Warburton’s side. At no stage did he blab about his boyhood heroes or dreams coming true lining up alongside Nicky Law, Danny Wilson or Rob Kiernan.

The 23-year-old is under no doubts about the scale of the task he faces to break into the Celtic first team but is convinced that working under Ronny Deila will improve his game.

With European commitments coming up as well as three domestic competitions to play for Deila is prepared to use his full squad which will give Allan an opportunity to impress.

Allan is unlikely to feature for Celtic tomorrow but could be given his hoops debut at Tannadice next Saturday against the club that sold him to West Brom in January 2012.
