Charles Green hospitalCharles Green is poised to deliver the blow that could tip Sevco into administration.

After a day of claim and denial Dave King finally admitted that Mr Green has demanded that the club pay his legal fees for the upcoming court case into the charges that fraud was involved in the creation of the club.

The Yorkshire based businessman has been charged alongside Imran Ahmad, Paul Clark, Dave Whitehouse and Craig Whyte in relation to the asset sale from Rangers (IL) through to Sevco Scotland via Sevco 5088.

Founding father Green served as chief executive of the club given a licence by the SFA until May 2013 and had six years of legal cover as part of his remuneration package.

In a club statement Mr King, who was recently described as a glib and shameless liar by a South African judge, admitted: “Charles Green approached the Club prior to his arrest and demanded that we pay his legal costs in respect of his co-operation with Police Scotland in its criminal investigation into his time as an officer of the Club.

I advised him that we would not do so. He was subsequently arrested and has now approached the Court to compel the Club to pay the legal costs of his defence to the criminal charges. This application will be strongly resisted.”

With no traditional method of borrowing available an attempt by Mr Green to ring fence £500,000 for legal fees could have disastrous consequences for the Championship leaders.

Season ticket money is expected to run out during the next seven weeks with further borrowing from Mike Ashley highly unlikely.

More than six months after sweeping to power on a ticket of transparancy and accountability Mr King has yet to invest any money in the Ibrox club who have still to publish their audited accounts for the year to June 2015.

Defending the club against Mr Green’s claim won’t come cheaply, if the businessman from Yorkshire is successful in his claim for legal support it’s possible that the club may have to go into administration to continue trading.
