Charles Green hospitalCharles Green, Craig Whyte and five others, including Duff & Phelps duo Paul Clark and Dave Whitehouse, will appear in court charged after being served with an indictment following police investigations.

Mr Whyte took Rangers into administration in February 2012 appointing Duff & Phelps for the task. When hope ended to save the club the assets were transferred to Sevco 5088 or Sevco Scotland at which stage Mr Green appeared on the scene.

The charges are bound to be a huge embarrassment to the SFA who provided the new club with a licence to play football although their attempt to put the new club into the SPL then the First Division of the SFL was rejected by supporters.

The licence was given after lengthy talks with Duff & Phelps who provided assurances that Mr Whyte, who had been fined and banned from Scottish football, was not involved with the new club.

In April 2013 when The Scottish Sun published claims of links between Mr Green and Mr Whyte the SFA accepted an internal Sevco report claiming that there were no links between the businessmen.

Today a Crown Office statement said: “The Crown can confirm that an indictment has today been served on Craig Thomas Whyte, Gary Martyn Withey, David Henry Grier, David John Whitehouse, Paul John Clark, Charles Alexander Green and Sheik Imran Ahmad also known as Imran Ahmad.

“The indictment libels charges of fraud, conspiracy to defraud, attempt to pervert the course of justice and statutory offences under the Companies Act 2006 and the Criminal Justice and Licencing (Scotland) Act 2010.”

With toxic Dave King chairman of the current club today’s development cast a further shadow over the club who are in desperate need of outside financing to survive through till Christmas.

Mr King has still to invest any of his children’s inheritance while the club accounts for the year to 30 June 2015 are still being worked on. Mr King has been in the blue room of dignity for over six months.
