Celtic v UMF Stjarnan - UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round First LegColin Kazim Richards is close to completing a move to Celtic with Patrick Roberts signing an 18 month contract to move to the Scottish champions.

Once Feyenoord agreed to terminate the striker’s contract a move to Celtic was put in place by Dudu Dahan who recently negotiated Nir Bitton’s contract extension.

With Nadir Ciftci expected to complete a loan deal to join Eskisehirspor of Turkey Richards will compete with Carlton Cole and Leigh Griffiths for the striking role in Ronny Deila’s side.

Twenty-nine year old Richards has played in Greece, Turkey, France and Holland with the London born striker starting his career at Bury.

Last season he scored a career best 11 goals while on loan to Feyenoord but was unable to repeat that form after the deal was made permanent.

Just before 1pm it was announced that Roberts had completed his loan deal with the club website stating: “CELTIC are delighted to confirm the signing of Patrick Roberts who has joined the Hoops on an 18-month loan deal from Manchester City.

Patrick was originally at Fulham before signing for Manchester City in a £12million deal in July 2015, and he has already played for the City first-team.

The 18-year-old winger has now joined the Scottish champions, aiming to play his part for the club over the next 18 months, and everyone at the club welcomes Patrick to Celtic.”

If the deal for Richards is completed it’s unlikely that there will be any further arrivals, speculation about Aiden McGeady returning ended when the Irish midfielder joined Gary Hooper and Glenn Loovens at Sheffield Wednesday.

Paul McMullan has returned to Celtic after starting the season on loan to St Mirren.

Any news on Ajer deal? I fear if we don’t get him this window we won’t sign him and will watch him in 5 years as a world beater.

‘ a career best 11 goals while on loan at Feyenoord’ surely that says it all about our ambition? I hope he knows he’ll not have a strike partner
