The SPFL are in for a hammering from BT Sport over huffy Craig Thomson’s actions at the St Johnstone v Celtic match on Saturday.
According to a report in the Daily Record the UEFA rated referee refused any contact with BT Sport who were televising the match live and contributing towards Thomson’s £900 match fee plus expenses.
Thomson’s huff is believed to be about the criticism from Chris Sutton over his handling of the Dundee Sevco match where he bottled out of sending off Harry Forrester who equalised for the Ibrox side in their weekend win over Motherwell.
According to today’s Record: “We can reveal that Thomson refused to speak to BT production staff when approached shortly after his arrival at McDiarmid Park and made it clear there would be no co-operation from him or his assistants.
“While Thomson gave no reason for this unusual step, sources within the SFA confirmed that he’s fuming at the “personal vitriol” of Sutton’s comments during the previous week’s live match between Rangers and Dundee.
“Sutton described Thomson as a bottler for not sending off Gers player Harry Forrester for a rash tackle.”

Thomson’s reaction highlights the untouchable attitude of referees who feel that they are the stars of the show and beyond criticism.
It also highlights the folly of the SFA awarding the same referee the lunchtime live televised match on successive weekends.
Later today it will be revealed which match Thomson will have at the weekend, on Friday night BT Sport will show the Kilmarnock v Sevco match.
