Deluded Mark Warburton has claimed that Mikael Lustig should have been red carded for a foul on Scotland star Barrie Mackay.

With the scoreline 3-1 in Celtic’s favour Lustig fouled Mackay inside the Sevco half with referee Willie Collum blowing for a free kick.

Shortly after the free kick was taken Weir was sent to the stand for comments made to fourth official Kevin Clancy with Warbo coming up with an utterly bizarre explanation for Weir’s red card shame.

The former city trader said: “The sending off (Senderos) I can’t defend, it’s a red card. The frustration for us came at that 3-1, it was an unhill struggle, we felt that Barrie Mackay was taken out by a player on a yellow card. That’s when David Weir was sent to the stand.

We felt, we never ever want to see players sent off, he (Senderos) had to go, he had to go, absolutely, red card. But we felt on the far side Barrie Mackay clear as day taken out, David Weir said he had to go, the referee turned round and said ok. At that point we were very frustrated.”

Despite Warbo’s claims Lustig hadn’t been booked when the foul took place, the Swede completed the 90 minutes without being cautioned.

According to the SPFL website Nir Bitton, Kolo Toure, Patrick Roberts and Moussa Dembele were booked. Bitton and Toure for their first fouls of the day while Nico Kranjcar committed seven first half fouls for his yellow card. Dembele became the third Celtic player booked this season for celebrating a goal.
