Channel Four journalist Alex Thomson was in Glasgow yesterday to film the background to the first ever visit of Sevco to Celtic Park.

Thomson is one of the few English based journalists to have shown an interest in the story and challenged the continuation myth pushed by the Scottish football authorities and media.

That stance has put Thomson in the firing line of the Ibrox support determined to claim that their club continues despite stiffing 276 creditors including HMRC and many public bodies.

The report from yesterday’s match doesn’t contain much in the way of fresh revelations but keeps the issue live to an audience outside of Scotland.

Despite widespread damage in the visitors section of Celtic Park and repeated anti-catholic hate songs throughout the game Chief Superintendent Brian McInulty said: “I would like to thank all the supporters who came to enjoy the match today in a safe and responsible manner.

“You listened to what we asked and behaved accordingly which has helped our officers ensure the safety of everyone attending the venue.

“All fans came out to enjoy the match and soak up the atmosphere and this is what football should be all about.

“I sincerely hope that the good spirits of both sets of supporters continues throughout the rest of the day and the rest of the evening.”
