It was just like the good old days at Torrance Park Golf Course yesterday as Walter Smith and Ally McCoist dispersed their wisdom.
There was however one other figure there- keeping a lower profile than most- Dave Murray.
Very little has been seen, and even less heard,.of Murray but yesterday’s silent appearance suggests that he still craves the attention and limelight- provided that it’s on his terms.
Incredibly despite the on-going chaos, post liquidation, created by Murray he seems immune to criticism while others like Charles Green and Craig Whyte require constant security.
While Smith told anyone who would listen about the need for ‘investment’ at Ibrox the architect of that plan was in the corner without a hint of shame.
Having almost run the Bank of Scotland out of business propping up his empire Murray turned to tax evasion to provide a team capable of competing with Celtic on the park.
With the invoices starting to suffocate the club Murray took £1 off Craig Whyte with administration and liquidation arriving within 13 months.
Despite withholding contract details from the SFA and SPL for over a decade Murray was never charged by the SFA- leaving the door open for a return to the blue room alongside his old pals Dave King and Paul Murray.
