“Everybody knows that it was just about consolidating Rangers this year and getting them challenging,” he claimed yesterday at an event to promote North Lanarkshire’s Sporting Hall of Fame. “Hopefully with a couple of new additions they can go and push on.
“There’s a lot of good stuff being played, but they just don’t seem to be able to finish teams off at the moment. Then they’ll lost a goal and they’re left chasing their tails a bit but they will be there or thereabouts, they will be strong enough to be up there and be putting a challenge in.”
“Of course, there has to be some realism from the Rangers support. It’s the first year back from where they were to where they want to be.”
Following the 1-1 home draw with St Johnstone Mark Warburton claimed that he had the backing of 95% of the support and wasn’t interested in the other 5%.
