Darlington Nagbe will be a VIP guest of Celtic at tonight’s clash with Barcelona.
According to a report in The Sun the hoops are preparing a £1.5m bid to bring the Portland Timbers midfielder to the SPFL.
Nagbe is keen to move to Europe with Celtic looking to cash in on their Champions League status in a bid to woo the 26-year-old to Glasgow.
During the summer transfer window Brendan Rodgers identified a creative midfielder as a priority and is believed to have tried to sign James McCarthy during the closing stages of August.
Nagbe has got 10 international caps for the USA but fell out with Jurgen Klinsman and refused a call up for the October internationals.
With Klinsmann replaced by Bruce Arena Nagbe will be hoping to resume his international career.
After five seasons with Portland Timbers he is keen to try his luck in Europe with Celtic leading the chase to snap up the 26-year-old whose parents settled in the USA when Darlington was 11-years-old after his dad, Joe, had played football in France, Greece and Switzerland where he developed a love for Celtic due to the famous green and white hooped shirt.
