Scott Sinclair is set to give Brendan Rodgers a big boost by returning to face Dundee on December 17.

The former Aston Villa man suffered a hamstring injury against Barcelona on November 23 and has been missing since then.

Patrick Roberts has stepped in to replace Sinclair but with a hectic fixture schedule underway Rodgers will be pleased to have his £3.5m signing back in the fold.

Asked about Sinclair’s progress the Celtic boss said: “He is coming along very well. It obviously won’t be this weekend but we are very hopeful that, probably for the Dundee game (December 17), he might not be too far away.”

Despite his recent absence Sinclair remains as the joint top scorer in the Premier League alongside Liam Boyce of Ross County with nine goals so far, working out at one every 104 minutes.

Sinclair scored in each of his first six Celtic SPFL matches including a winner on his debut after coming off the bench away to Hearts in the opening day of the season.

After playing under Rodgers at Chelsea and Swansea he jumped at the chance to be reunited with the Irishman with the recent injury the only set back to his Celtic career.
