With the west of Scotland bracing itself for Storm Barbara over the next 24 hours one area of Glasgow will come under particular attention- Ibrox.

Glasgow City Council have proved reluctant to answer direct questions about the condition of Ibrox Stadium and appear happy to sit behind the statement that a safety certificate is in place.

While some might wish to pass off the matter as an internet only issue concerns about the state of the stadium have been expressed from the highest authority inside Ibrox- even higher than James Traynor.

In a rare brush with the truth Dave King gave the game away during a Question and Answer session in June of this year.

On the club website under the headline Ibrox Stadium and it’s environment the South African based businessman explained: “The stadium itself requires significant maintenance work, much of which will go unseen, but will include a major overhaul of the roofs of the Broomloan, Copland and Sandy Jardine stands.”

It certainly has gone unseen but significant maintenance work can’t only be carried out internally.

With Barbara about to do her worst there would seem to be no better time for that significant maintenance work to be carried out.
