Fresh from watching Saido Berahino opt for Stoke City rather than Sevco fans of the Ibrox club are getting worked up about a more modest but equally unrealistic transfer target- Jason Cummings of Hibs.

Less than a fortnight ago Berahino was on his way to Ibrox for a Dembele fee at the end of the season before returning to England next January in a £30m deal with the fee split between the player and Dave King.

The simplicity of the deal was exceptional- until Stoke City did what proper clubs do and spent £15m to buy the striker from West Brom.

Undeterred and still unable or unwilling to find out what the terms ‘going concern’ and ‘soft loans’ really mean Sevco fans are debating the merits of Cummings.

That’s the striker that signed a four year contract at the start of the season for Hibs and who Peterborough United had a rejected £1.8m bid for.

With the battle for second place in the melting pot Mark Warburton hasn’t been able to extract a penny out of Dave King’s transfer warchest.

Where £2m plus comes from in the summer is anyone’s guess assuming Hibs are prepared to do business with a club on the brink of insolvency and that the player wants to team up with Jason Holt and Andy Halliday.

With one week left of the transfer window the only good news at Ibrox seems to be that no other club is remotely interested in any Sevco players. Again. Not even Barrie McKay although a few tales of mystery bids from mystery clubs playing in mystery planets are expected for the Scotland starlet.
