Scott Sinclair and Brendan Rodgers go back a long long way.

Initially at Chelsea they worked together, that continued at Swansea with Celtic now getting the full benefits.

After a month out with a hamstring injury the former Aston Villa man is back on full power with yesterday’s display at Ibrox up there with his best of the season.

Following stints at Manchester City and Villa that saw his career go into free-fall Sinclair is delighted to be working again with his old mentor.

It’s great when a manager knows you,” he told the Celtic website. “Over the past couple of years I have had some tough times and in and out of sides.

When you know a manager and he believes in you then you can see the confidence in my game. I am scoring goals and I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Last season Sinclair scored in one league game for Villa, a double against Sunderland in October.

Yesterday’s match-winner was his 11th SPFL goal of the season, two more than Moussa Dembele has managed in the league.

With Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths on eight goals each and Tom Rogic on six it’s easy to see why Celtic are 19 points clear and on course for six-in-a-row.
