Fall guy Graeme Murty faces the daunting task of taking Sevco to Celtic Park on March 12.

Another hefty defeat looks on the cards with the very real possibility that #goingfor55 will be dead and buried by the final whistle.

Celtic mad Murty was lured to Ibrox by Mark Warburton at the start of the season to manage the Development League side but with the former photocopying executive making a swift departure from Ibrox Murty has been left holding the baby.

Dave King delivered an astonishing attack on Warbo over the weekend but despite his multiple failings it seems that there were no plans in place to take the company in a new direction.

We haven’t at this stage spoken to anyone about the manager or Director of Football roles,” MD Stewart Robertson revealed to the Sevco website. “We are just gathering the facts and we will take our time as they are two key roles.

We are really focussed on making sure that we get the right people and I’d rather take an extra week to make sure we have the right people, than to rush into anything.

We have a very capable interim manager in Graeme Murty, who has risen to the challenge fantastically well so far and we will run with that for the foreseeable future.

I can only take my hat off to Graeme so far, he was thrown in at very short notice and he has risen to the challenge terrifically well.

He is a very resolute individual and in the very few months he’s been at the club he’s developed a very strong reputation for himself from the job that he has done with the under-20s and we are delighted with what he’s done so far.

It’s early days clearly, he’s worked hard and he’s gained the respect of the boys which I think says everything. The support he’s had from the guys has been great and I’d like to thank them for the support they’ve given him.”

Murty spent five seasons as a player at York City before an 11 year stint at Reading after being signed by Tommy Burns, his footballing hero.

Sunday’s Scottish Cup win over Greenock, as he referred to Morton, was his first ever experience of management with all of his coaching career spent with the Academy structure.
