Graeme Murty has admitted that facing Celtic is a daunting task.

In three weeks time, barring a disaster in the matches in-between, Murts, as he is now known, will take Mark Warburton’s squad to Celtic Park.

In September Warbo watched his side lose 5-1 and said that there was no gap between the sides.

After one week in charge Murts finds his side 27 points adrift of Celtic and closer to bottom of the table Inverness Caley Thistle.

In terms of goal difference Celtic are on plus 49, the tribute act plus 6. Over 24 matches Celtic are almost two goals a game better off than Joe Garner, Kenny Miller and co.

Murts has to deal with the expectations of the people with logic never a factor at Ibrox.

Looking forward three weeks he told STV: “I think when you look at the history between the clubs and you look at the way they’re playing at the moment, you would be daunted.

“But how is it when you go to a big stadium and you’re the underdogs? There’s no better feeling than walking out of the stadium with a good result.”

Dundee away, Inverness Caley Thistle away and St Johnstone at home will test the caretaker boss who knows that his ruthless board can bin him overnight.

Murts added: “However, can I reiterate that I think it would be incredibly presumptuous and arrogant of me to even look that far forward.

“I’m just cracking on with what I’m doing for this weekend and then we’ll see after the game.”
