Stewart Robertson has explained how he decided that Brother Pedro was the most outstanding candidate to succeed Mark Warburton.

Four weeks after the departure of the former city trader, Caixinha has agreed to a three and a half year deal to stop 10-in-a-row.

The decision to appoint the fifth best coach in Qatar ahead of a string of unemployed Real Rangers Men has shocked most supporters with Caixinha virtually an unknown quality.

Brother Pedro hasn’t stayed in the same job for more than two seasons with his only success coming in Mexico where he was in charge of Celtic’s partner club Santos Laguna.

We compiled a shortlist of high-quality candidates for the position but we knew after our initial meeting with Pedro that he was the right man to take this club forward,” Robbo explained to the company website.

He is a man of great experience and authority and the Board has no doubt he will help us achieve our long-term goals. I would like to thank the Rangers supporters for their patience throughout the process but we were determined to appoint the best candidate possible.”

Tellingly there was no comment from Dave King on the appointment of a new manager.

Robbo had hoped to appoint a Director of Football but after being rejected by Ross Wilson of Southampton that idea has been shelved.

Trying to find a DoF prepared to accept responsibility for Brother Pedro looks an impossible task with the new Jose Mourinho taking charge from Monday morning.
