Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Chris Davies was behind Stuart Armstrong’s stunning free kick at Inverness last night.

Early in the second half referee Andrew Dallas broke up preparations for a Celtic free kick when he spoke to Dedryck Boyata and an opponent as Armstrong prepared to deliver the ball into the penalty box.

On the touchline Davies spotted an opportunity- a massive gap to the right of where Owain Fon Williams was positioned.

Armstrong took the message on board and without looking up to check the keeper’s positioning sent a brilliant delivery crashing into the net at the keeper’s front post.

Afterwards Brendan Rodgers explained to The Sun: “We were looking at the free kick and could see the keeper was off his line.

Chris Davies felt the same and we got the message on to Stu, it was a brilliant finish.”

Last night’s 4-0 win takes Celtic to a maximum of seven points away from clinching the SPFL title.

If Aberdeen win their next three matches, against Motherwell, Hearts and Dundee, Celtic can win the title away to Hearts if they beat Sevco and Dundee.

With a 33 point lead over Sevco and 11 matches left to play a draw against the Ibrox side on March 12 will be enough to end their outside title hopes.
