Brendan Rodgers has highlighted the inconsistencies of Don Robertson after explaining why Celtic will appeal against Scott Brown’s red card against Ross County.
The hoops captain was given a straight red card by the erratic whistler who them booked just one Ross County player as they joined in a free for all as Brown was pushed to the ground.
A couple of minutes earlier Robertson had awarded a phantom penalty to the home side after an incredible dive from Alex Schalk in the Celtic penalty box.
The Ross County man has accepted a two match suspension for simulation but Robertson will be at Hampden on Sunday picking up his fee as an additional assistant to Willie Collum.
.@ScottBrown8 ????BR: I didn’t think Scott should have been sent off last weekend. We challenged the red card because we felt that it was a yellow.

.@ScottBrown8 ????BR: When you assess the consistency of these decisions, the same referee gave a yellow card for a tackle on @kierantierney1 at Motherwell

.@ScottBrown8 @kierantierney1 ????BR: Scott’s was nowhere near as bad as that. So, the consistency in the decision making definitely makes us want to appeal it.

Bowman was booked for his x-rated challenge on Tierney which would have been a leg breaker if the defender had his foot anchored on the ground.
There has been no comment from the SFA despite the outcry over Robertson’s performance with the penalty attracting worldwide ridicule after being shown repeatedly on Sky Sports News.
