Celtic’s 5-1 win over Sevco at Ibrox today was marred by a number of incidents of crowd disorder.
Police Scotland made eight arrests but seemed content to ensure that there wasn’t widespread violence in front of a worldwide television audience.
Afterwards the Ibrox club issued a half hearted 20 word ‘statement’ that seemed to illustrate how seriously they viewed the incidents.
It read: “Rangers do not condone any form of unacceptable behaviour and the matter is now in the hands of Police Scotland.”
Quite sad that this was Rangers biggest attacking threat today… pic.twitter.com/vSagX5M5Aq

After seven minutes one home supporter was picked up by Sky Sports cameras making a monkey gesture as Scott Sinclair opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Shortly afterwards a home fan entered the pitch trying to confront Scott Brown.
Following Celtic’s fourth goal from Dedryck Boyata a battery was thrown at Leigh Griffiths.
Before the kick off and during the first half home fans also sang the anti-Catholic anthem ‘The Billy Boys’ which was banned by UEFA a decade ago.
Celtic’s 5-1 win stretched the gap between the two clubs to 36 points after 34 matches.
