The Evening Times has published a video clip showing ‘West of Scotland’ football fans singing their hatred of Catholics.
Three days after the clip appeared on social media the footage has gone mainstream exposing further the toxic nature of a football club that provides a rallying point for views that would be outlawed anywhere else in Europe outside of Scotland.
Fans are seen singing along to the eighties hit from Tiffany ‘I think We’re Alone Now’ which includes the imaginative punchline of ‘Then you put your arms around and we stumble to the ground and we say we hate Catholics, everybody hates Roman Catholics.’
Newspapers often decide not to publish such material in the belief that it provides additional publicity or may reflect badly on a trusted business partner.
The video clip adds to the catalogue of shame that the club has suffered since the defeat from Celtic.
Yesterday in separate court appearance one fan was charged with racist actions against Scott Sinclair while another was charged with invading the pitch to confront Celtic captain Scott Brown.
