Paul Lambert’s future as manager of Wolves is under threat over an agents row.

The former Celtic skipper took charge of Wolves in November and steered them to mid-table in the Championship as well as FA Cup wins away to Stoke and Liverpool.

Lambert took over from Walter Zenga and brought some stability to the club with a core of players familiar with the British game and the demands of the Championship.

A year ago Lambert resigned as manager of Blackburn after budget talks for a season that ended in relegation with Wolves fans bound to be alarmed by the Telegraph report suggesting troubled times at Molineux.

The Telegraph reports: “Paul Lambert is considering quitting Wolves amid huge concerns over the Championship club’s transfer policy.

Lambert’s future as head coach has been plunged into doubt after just six months, with the Wolves hierarchy battling to prevent him from leaving Molineux.

The former Aston Villa and Blackburn manager is thought to be unhappy with the club’s stance on new signings and is refusing to accept a proposed influx of unknown foreign players.

Lambert was keen to buy a core of British players this summer, along with a couple of signings from abroad recommended by Jorge Mendes – the super-agent who has close links to Wolves owners Fosun.”

Lambert has enjoyed a lively career in management highlighted by incredible success at Norwich City who he took from League One to survival in the Premier League in consecutive seasons.

A move to Aston Villa seemed to age him on a weekly basis before he earned credit for the job he did at Blackburn which earned him the Wolves job in November where he steered the club to 15th place after they looked like relegation material under Zenga.
