Rangers legend Ian Durrant trusts Dave King to provide Pedro Caixinha with a transfer war-chest.

In two years as chairman of the holding vehicle the South African based criminal has failed to deliver on every promise that he made prior to ousting the Easdale brothers out of the blue room of dignity.

£50m of investment hasn’t arrived, there has been no share issue, the club still retails through Sports Direct who have blanket advertising across Ibrox and the team has limped in third in the SPFL miles behind Aberdeen and Celtic.

Adding to the tale of woe King has failed to respond to the ruling of the Takeover Appeal Board to offer 20p per share which will have far reaching sanctions for the club and has attended one match this season!

The arrival of Brother Pedro seems to have given fresh hope to the deluded and gullible with Durrant expecting some big money signings to lead next season’s title challenge.

Mr King’s got a lot of business things over in South Africa and when the team’s not doing well, it’s easy to pick on somebody,” the Dumbarton assistant explained to The Sun.

But he’s backed the club and there’s a lot of things going on to try and get a level of investment in.

There needs to be, because we’ve a really strong Celtic, Aberdeen have done great over the past few seasons and I’m sure they and Hearts will strengthen, so Rangers have to do the same. I’m quite sure Mr King will back the manager.”

Durrant added: “He (Pedro) has to have trust in his players and if he has that I’m sure he’ll go and get them.

Rangers is a hard animal to play for. It’s a hard badge to wear, but it’s enjoyable when you’re doing well.

If there were players in Scotland who were suitable I’m sure he’d try and identify them.

It’s the manager’s decision, that’s what he’ll be judged on and Rangers fans will hope he gets it right.”
