Legia Warsaw fans have delivered another massive snub to UEFA.

The Polish club were fined €35,000 for an anti-Nazi banner unfurled against Astana and responded with another attack on UEFA at Thursday’s Europa League Play Off against Sheriff.

Legia have been serial offenders in the eyes of UEFA with a Champions League tie against Real Madrid last season played behind closed doors after violent attacks on supporters of Borussia Dortmund inside their stadium.

In 2014 the Polish side were booted out of the Champions League after they fielded an ineligible player in the qualifier against Celtic. Despite massive protests Celtic were awarded a 3-0 win from a match that they lost 2-0 at Murrayfield.

The anti-Nazi banner attracted widespread publicity and praise but UEFA like to pride themselves on keeping politics out of sport.

A further fine seems a certainty with a win for Sheriff after last night’s 1-1 draw in Poland sending Legia out of harms way for the remainder of the season.
