Commons and the blue room

Kris Commons took a venture into enemy territory as he visited Ibrox for the first edition of SPFL Matters on Sky Sports.

With BT Sport setting the pace on Scottish football Sky are showing renewed interest rather than providing token coverage to fill those difficult gaps in their schedules.

Commons seems to be slipping straight into a new career in broadcasting after almost a full year out of football due to a back injury.

As a player his opinion was highly sought after but now he has to prove himself in a world where dozens of former or retiring players are trying to make their mark in the media.

There will soon be a time to get critical, unless he joins the BBC and impersonates Steven EBT Thompson.

While BT Sport make the running and have Champions League football about to begin again Sky Sports retain first pick of the SPFL fixtures and have exclusive rights to Celtic’s clashes with Sevco.
