Erik Sviatchenko has been linked with a move to FC Copenhagen.

According to a report on BT.DK the defender could be on his way back to Denmark after Besiktas dropped their interest due to the injury he picked up away to Rosenborg. According to BT the injury will keep the Dane out of action for three months.

Sviatchenko was a key player at Celtic in the first half of last season but dropped out of contention once Dedryck Boyata was brought back into the side.

Boyata’s pre-season injury against Slavia Prague opened the first team door for the Dane but he in turn picked up a knee injury against Rosenborg that has ruled him out of action for three months.

Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken is a big fan of Sviatchenko but feared that other clubs could offer ‘Premier League’ type wages for the defender.

With injury ruling the defender out for three months interest from elsewhere has dropped increasing the chances of the Danish champions making a signing.

According to BT Sviatchenko has gone on record saying that he is flattered by interest from the biggest club in Scandinavia.

Celtic paid Midtjylland £1.5m for the defender in January 2016 but his agent appears to have been angling for a move since the turn of the year.
