Regan v Doncaster

It can be looked at in many ways but there can be little doubt that the pantomime horse that has been Neil Doncaster and Stewart Regan are now going in separate directions.

For the best part of seven years the two men have rarely wavered from their script with each enjoying £2m plus in salary payments plus generous perks and expenses and a lifestyle of first class travel.

Trying to brazen it out over the various secret deals needed to maintain their ‘Old Firm’ cash cow has had a disastrous effect on Scottish football but united both men to a common goal under-lined by self preservation.

Since the Supreme Court ruling at the start of July some clear blue water has emerged between the two men and the organisations that they represent.

Whether Doncaster knows that the truth is about to confront him or he has an issue with Regan the latest correspondence between the two men shows that they are clearly at odds.

Doncaster is diligently carrying out a request from SPFL members while Regan is defending his committees and the skeletons in every filing cabinet.

Peter Lawwell has a foot in each camp and appears to have outflanked two relative novices in their bid to pull as fast one on the Scottish game.

The game is almost up for both men. Doncaster may be able to escape with slightly less damage to his name but when all the information comes out into the open it may be Police Scotland who start to interest in the coals that Regan would rather not rake over.
