Brendan Rodgers decides on his team days in advance but for every other Celtic fan the guessing game will go on until 6.30pm tonight when the team to face Anderlecht is announced.
Whether he starts with Leigh Griffiths or Moussa Dembele it’s almost certain that the other striker will feature at some stage over the 90 minutes.
When it comes to team selection there is no room for sentiment. James Forrest scored doubles in both games leading up to Saturday’s 2-0 win at Ibrox but Patrick Roberts was selected as the best man for the job.
Griffiths was hot and cold against Sevco, his first half header was Morelos like but his goal carried the hallmarks of a striker on top of his profession. He anticipated the pass, timed his run perfectly and shot home without needing to look at the goalkeeper.
The former Hibs striker has little experience of the Champions League but Dembele was in the same situation a year ago before he arrived on the scene with a double against Manchester City.
It’s unlikely that Dembele has got 90 minutes in the tank but he could have the physical presence to unsettle the Anderlecht defence and create openings for others.
Equally valid is that Griffiths has the energy to wear out the Belgian defenders, leaving the door open for the later arrival of Dembele to cause damage.
