From east to west

There will be many players in the spotlight tomorrow when Hibs visit Celtic Park with regular player traffic between the clubs down the years.

Leigh Griffiths will be the centre of attention in the build up with the striker vowing not to celebrate sticking the ball in the Hibs net.

Whether he can maintain that if he scores remains to be seen but it can be said for certain that he won’t celebrate with the sort of enthusiasm that he shows for goals against Hearts or Sevco.

Having netted 91 career goals for Celtic he’s on course to hit the century mark before the fourth anniversary of his move from Wolves to Celtic.

That deal was almost Neil Lennon’s farewell transfer with the current Hibs boss working with Griffiths for a couple of months as Celtic’s third successive title was clinched in March 2014 at Firhill.

For every Griffiths deal there has been a Chris Killen or two with Hibs getting great value out of umpteen Celts including Jackie McNamara Snr and Alan Sneddon who earned testimonials from the Edinburgh side.

Liam Henderson and Anthony Stokes were on loan from Celtic when they won the 2016 Scottish Cup with Kris Commons sent east on an emergency loan midway through last season.

Take a look at five recent transfers from east to west and give us your verdict on these players.

GARY CALDWELL

A very divisive figure among Celtic fans, very definitely a Gordon Strachan signing.

It was a sign of spending being reigned in but as Bobo Balde was pushed into exile Caldwell was twice involved in the knock out stage of the Champions League.

He made 150 appearances in total before Tony Mowbray opted to sell him to Wigan, Caldwell had a strong opinion of himself that many supporters just couldn’t handle.

CHRIS KILLEN

The classic example of how someone that scored regularly elsewhere won’t score for fun at Celtic.

The Kiwi signed at the same time as Scott Brown but scored only two goals and never looked convincing in a Celtic shirt.

Strachan quickly realised the error of his ways but signed Killen during his ill-fated spell at Middlesbrough.

SCOTT BROWN

Until the arrival of Olivier Ntcham the £4m paid for the Fifer in 2007 hadn’t been breached.

It was a steep fee but at £400,000 a season Brown has provided excellent value for money and is still going as strong as ever.

He scored against Celtic in his last Hibs appearance with that goal cheered by all fans at Easter Road.

Unlike Kevin Thompson who jumped at the first offer Brown is respected by the Hibs fans for staying at the club to win a League Cup medal before moving to Celtic.

SCOTT ALLAN

His autobiography should reveal a few mysteries!

It has been a very strange career with the midfielder classed among the disastrous signings of summer 2015 that brought Nadir Ciftci, Saidy Janko and Logan Bailly to Celtic.

After a season of frustration under Ronny Deila he was shipped out on loan to Rotherham last season but it failed to click for him there as Alan Stubbs was sacked.

Now on loan at Dundee in the third season of his four year contract a Celtic career looks as far away as ever.

ANTHONY STOKES

Joined Celtic at the perfect time and instantly struck up a great rapport with Gary Hooper, his relationship with Neil Lennon was more strained.

He was a vital part of the side that won the title in 2012 with his double in the 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock a pivotal result in the season.

His Celtic career was over from the moment Ronny Deila arrived with Brendan Rodgers confirming that despite the emotion of a double scored against Sevco in the 2016 Scottish Cup Final.
