After one reply from Stewart Regan the cowardly SPFL have dropped their request for the SFA to carry out an independent review into the tax cheating years of Rangers (IL).

In July the Supreme Court ruled that the scam used by the club for over a decade was simply a secondary contract and not an Employee Benefit Trust.

For over a decade every team fielded by Rangers (IL) included ineligible players with details of their payments withheld from the SFA and SPL.

Following the Supreme Court decision the SPFL requested than an independent review was carried out but the SFA knocked that back although they have conceded that there are grounds to review the 2011 UEFA licence given despite HMRC being owed £2.8m.

After a meeting at Hampden today the SPFL board stated: “The SPFL Board is disappointed in the Scottish FA’s decision not to participate in an independent review.

The SPFL Board still believes that an independent review, promoted jointly by the Scottish FA and SPFL, would have resulted in a better understanding of the procedures and processes adopted by football’s governing bodies. Such a review would also have enabled any lessons learned to be implemented for the future benefit of the game in Scotland.”

SPFL Chairman Murdoch MacLennan commented: “The SPFL Board has been clear that any meaningful review would have had to be carried out in association with the Scottish FA and with the full and active co-operation of both organisations.

“The SPFL Board has therefore concluded that it cannot, by itself, take forward an effective independent review.”

Move to bring about a Judicial Review, which would be more wide ranging that an independent review are underway with independent funding ready to expose the multiple rule breaches of Regan, Campbell Ogilvie, Andrew Dickson, Gordon Smith and other office bearers.
