Controversial match official Douglas Ross has been given a vote of confidence by the SFA and will be on the line at Saturday’s Premiership match between St Johnstone and Hibs- giving him back to back Saints fixtures.

The Tory MP for Moray caused a storm during a video interview when he claimed that dealing with gypsy settlements would be his first priority if he was Prime Minister for the day.

Two weeks ago Ross was on the line for the Celtic v St Johnstone Premiership clash and despite reports of SFA concerns about his comments he has been given a vote of confidence to continue officiating.

Ross actually had a reasonable match t Celtic Park, calling the St Johnstone goal correctly when almost everyone, including goalscorer Steven MacLean, thought that he was offside.

Having been voted into Westminster in June it’s unlikely that the Tory will be able to continue his progress through the refereeing ranks due to the demands of both jobs.
