Chris Sutton has hit out at the ‘bull’ from Gordon Strachan.

Despite occasional media appearances together there is no love lost between the two men with the striker’s Celtic career ending less than six months after Strachan replaced Martin O’Neill.

Scotland’s World Cup failure launched a tidal wave of criticism of the international boss who said little unexpected in his post match media conference.

Strachan’s own position wasn’t a topic for discussion as he agonised over the heart-break of the players returning to their family after another failure.

There was however one quote that stood out and left Sutton and others shaking their heads.

Strachan said: “Genetically, we have to work at things. Don’t know if we can get big women and men together, and see what we can do.”

After a disastrous start to the campaign Strachan turned to six Celtic players with results picking up and taking Scotland back into contention for a play off place.

Bizarrely James Forrest and Callum McGregor were left on the bench last night but both players can look forward to a welcome break in November as Scotland look on from the outside as the play-off’s take place.
