There was virtually no anger yesterday as Celtic’s unbeaten domestic record came to a halt after 69 matches, the scoreline at Tynecastle was a shock but very quickly supporters looked back with pride on an incredible 19 month run.

It started off under Ronny Deila with a 7-0 win over Motherwell but effectively the entire run has been all about Brendan Rodgers.

In his first domestic match in charge, against Hearts at Tynecastle, the former Liverpool boss introduced Scott Sinclair who bagged the winner and has barely stopped scoring since.

Last season the biggest threat to the run came at Fir Park when Motherwell twice led by two goals but typical of the side Celtic battled back to win the match 4-3.

Along the road there were four trophy wins and seven victories over Aberdeen although as the run stumbled in the end more and more clubs had at least been able to record a draw against the hoops.

The Invincible tag for last season’s efforts will last forever, the unbeaten record almost survived the full calendar year but as the Celtic support adjust to a domestic defeat there are plenty of outstanding memories to savour from a fantastic era in the club’s history.
