Stuart Armstrong faces at least a fortnight out of action after undergoing a hernia operation.

Both The Sun and the Daily Record report on the injury this morning although the story doesn’t come from their reporters covering the hoops in Dubai.

According to the reports the midfielder flew to Germany rather than Glasgow and underwent the operation.

It is claimed that the surgery was to resolve a long running problem but Armstrong appeared to take a full part in the training sessions in Dubai and started the last competitive match against Sevco a fortnight ago.

The 25-year-old is now expected to miss the matches against Brechin, Partick Thistle, Hibs and Hearts but Celtic are pretty well covered for central midfielders.

Armstrong has been linked with a move away from Celtic this month and while the operation doesn’t rule that out it is less likely than an offer will come in for a player currently out of action.
