Jamie Murphy believes that Sevco can storm to the SPFL title.

Despite the farce over his signing and being left behind as the club flew out to Florida the new Ibrox loan signing is planning to stop Celtic winning a seventh consecutive title.

One minute in for title pledge

On Friday the former Sheffield United ace was asked about his ambitions for the season and said: “Well it’s Rangers, you always want to win the league, first and foremost that is the most important thing.”

Asked if they could win the league he added: “Well you don’t know, you can only go in game by game, it’s up to us to put in a performance.”

Murphy will get his chance to make a title statement on Wednesday when Sevco host Aberdeen at Ibrox.

Despite back-to-back wins over Derek McInnes’ side Sevco trail Aberdeen by three points with Wednesday’s match critical for the credibility of Graeme Murty’s new look side.

Aberdeen warmed up for that match with a 4-1 win over St Mirren thanks to goals from Adam Rooney, Ryan Christie (2) and Gary Mackay-Steven.

After Sevco failed to meet the terms of Murphy’s transfer fee a four month loan deal was agreed allowing the Ibrox side to save face.
