Some viewers might have thought that he was just trying to stir things up but Sutton went against the grain as speculation mounted about the departure of the former Fulham striker.
The mood within Celtic seemed to have changed over the course of the last week, speculation that had previously been batted aside was discussed in detail and given credibility.
Sutton’s view didn’t find much support from his fellow pundits on BT Sport but as almost everyone waited on a departure Rodgers spoke up today.
There will be lots of spin and mischief around over the next few days but with Dembele it seems that Sutton has some decent lines of communication and isn’t just seeking attention.
