Neil McCann was unable to stop Celtic completing a double swoop to sign Scott Bain and Jack Hendry with the double deal from Dundee going through just before midnight.

In return Dundee banked just under £1m, lost their Scottish Cup goal hero from Tuesday night Scott Allan and gained the cup-tied striker Simon Murray from Hibs.

Celtic’s move for Bain was agreed earlier in the evening but it was after 10pm before Hendry arrived at Celtic Park after Dundee finally agreed terms on the deal.

Bain is available to play in the Scottish Cup, Hendry is cup tied but both players can play in the Europa League.

Celtic turned down McCann’s request to keep Hendry on loan until the end of the season despite agreeing that request with St Mirren over Lewis Morgan.

No one left Celtic Park yesterday with Hendry and Bain joining Charly Musonda, Marvin Compper and Morgan as January signings.
