Rod Petrie has reasserted his control of the SFA by pushing through the appointment of Alex McLeish as the new Scotland manager.
While Stewart Regan arranged friendlies away to Peru and Mexico for his successor Petrie has brought in a deeply unpopular manager for the next chief executive to work with.
There has been no flood of applicants to take over from Regan with the reality of working with toxic McLeish making the top job at the SFA even less attractive.
Long term blazer Petrie is deeply embroiled in every scandal at the SFA with the arrival of McLeish a clear two fingers to any interest in restoring credibility and integrity.
.@btsportfootball Is Alex Mcleish the right man for the Scotland job??

I want to congratulate @ScottishFA for winning a @AwardsDarwin by appointing Alex McLeish EBT as the new National Manager. At least he will be handy when it comes to answering questions and giving evidence regarding the accuracy or otherwise of official records.

Astonishing comments from Alex McLeish confirming that Rangers had to ‘cheat’ with EBT’s to buy better players to stay ahead of Celtic. ????

Alex McLeish admits sporting advantage @ScottishFA
McLeish’s own #ebt was to the value of £1.7m#StripTheTitles https://t.co/BPvKg38gH9— Electronic Tims (@ETimsNet) July 10, 2017
The former Rangers (IL) boss was in at the heart of a decade of cheating from Ibrox using a tax scam that harmed every club in the country.
McLeish collected an EBT of £1.7m for masterminding the scam and admitted to the BBC that it was the only way to make Rangers (IL) competitive.
With the verdict of the Compliance Officer expected soon on the 2011 UEFA licence issued to Rangers it seems appropriate to the morals of the SFA that McLeish is on the payroll with every one of his Scottish honours won with ineligible players on the park.
The SFA have never taken any action against a club that fielded ineligible players in every Scottish Cup tie that they played from 2000 through to 2011.
