Mike Ashley has told Sevco that next season’s merchandise won’t be available for sale through Sports Direct, according to Phil MacGiollabhain.

The sportswear billionaire has had a troubled relationship with the club since Dave King came to power three years ago promising to rip up the contract set up by founding father Charles Green.

King was dragged to court a number of times and was forced to pay £3m to terminate the contracts with Sports Direct.

There has been talks of a commission only deal with Danish firm Hummel but if kit isn’t available through the Sports Direct network sales are bound to be hit.

While hard-line supporters boycott Sports Direct the reality is that thousands of run of the mill fans turn to the store for cut price goods.

With no genuine in-house retail operation Sevco will struggle to get their goods onto the market with Sports Direct also owning the ‘club superstore’ at Ibrox which could have the shutters pulled down on match-days.
