Andrew Davies will escape further punishment for his X-rated attack on Scott Brown.

The Ross County captain saw Brown falling to the deck after a foul from a team-mate and decided to put his boot into the groin of the Celtic midfielder.

Steven McLean issued a straight red card with Brown fortunately able to recover and continue.

Davies will serve a two match ban for violent conduct but according to the Daily Record the SFA Compliance Officer will take no further action against the defender.

The Ross County defender is the third player in a month to be red carded for an attack on Brown, following on from Sam Cosgrove of Aberdeen and Motherwell’s Cedric Kipre.

Since Brendan Rodgers arrived at Celtic in May 2016 Callum McGregor, Mikael Lustig and Jozo Simunovic are the only players to have been sent off, McGregor and Simunovic were both sent off by Willie Collum.

Brown recently retired from international football.
