Image for McCann gets off

SFA discipline is a laughing stock as Neil McCann had his touchline ban cut in half after a five hour appeal at Hampden.

The Dundee boss was involved in a furious after-match confrontation with various St Johnstone employees after he watched his side lose 4-0 at Dens Park.

McCann was seen raising his hands to Saints keeper Zander Clark then waited in the tunnel area to continue his anger after the St Johnstone squad took the acclaim of their supporters.

Most fans and pundits expected a lengthy ban to be handed out but after appearing in person the SFA decided on a two match touchline ban.

Yesterday an appeal hearing started at 5.30pm with a decision taken at around 11pm that McCann was guilty of the offence but had his punishment reduced to just a one match ban.

Ironically that ban will apply to the rematch with St Johnstone on Saturday with the clear message to every club that it is madness not to appeal against punishments.
