It wasn’t a surprise that Brendan Rodgers picked out two defensive players for praise after the 0-0 draw with Dundee.

Celtic’s back three had very little to do during the match with few scary moments against visitors happy to take a point in their battle against relegation.

With Scott Bain forced to step aside there was no margin for error from Craig Gordon but from early in he was sharp and didn’t require any adjustment time despite two months out of action.

Jack Hendry showed great recovery pace a couple of times and was unfazed by playing against his old team-mates of less than three months ago.

The draw left the SPFL fixture planners with a headache as they attempt to provide Sky Sports with a title clincher that doesn’t involve Sevco being present with Rodgers having his own plans about getting the league wrapped up.

“The finishing line is close, but we want to sprint over it, we don’t want to just jog over it,” the Celtic boss told Radio Scotland.

“We want to get this league tied up as quickly as we can. But there’s still a lot of work to do. Six games, still a lot to play for. We’ll be better than what we were in the final third tonight, but lots of real positives – Craig Gordon coming back in, young Jack Hendry did well – it just wasn’t to be.”

Celtic are ten points ahead of Aberdeen with six matches left to play, Derek McInnes’ side have dropped nine points out of nine to Sevco.
