The magic of Paddy Roberts

It hasn’t been the triumphant return that he had hoped for but Patrick Roberts still has the ability to create memories.

Two hamstring injuries have taken a large a huge chunk out of his nine month loan deal with James Forrest more than adequately filling in on the right flank.

While the Scotland man provides pace, drive and goals Roberts has the best touch on the ball seen at Celtic Park since a certain Paddy McCourt.

The on-loan winger has an incredible touch and control of the ball. The slightest brush with his boot is capable of making a fool of defenders.

When he came on against Ross County on Saturday the game was already done and dusted.

For the fans that stayed till the end there was magic to witness from Roberts in the closing stages.

With his first touch he won a 50-50 with Marcus Fraser, his next touches saw him off and running leaving the defender reverting to a frustrated rugby tackle. It failed.

Moving down the right wing he cut inside taking out a defender, when another defender appeared he was nutmegged.

The final pass aimed at Mikael Lustig never reached it’s target but over 10 seconds Roberts showed that the art of dribbling is still alive and well.
