Neil McCann launched an astonishing attack on Bruno Alves today after guiding Dundee to a 4-0 defeat from Sevco.
The Sevco defender had only been on the park for two minutes when he committed what the Dundee boss described as a disgusting challenge on Craig Wighton.
Referee Greg Aitken booked Alves for the incident but after the match there was no holding back the anger of McCann.
“I have to say that it was a disgusting challenge from Bruno Alves,” the Dundee boss said. “It’s a joke.
“I’ve got a boy that is returning from a cruciate ligament. It’s almost like a scissor action, it’s almost thigh high. It’s a disgraceful challenge, I’m furious with it. It’s a yellow card, might have been a red, could easily have been a red in my mind.
“I did an interview where I was asked ‘is the game too tough?’.It’s not too tough but I’m all for protection, it’s a shocking challenge, shocking.”
Alves was dropped to the bench for Young McCrorie who was yellow carded during the first half before being replaced by Alves in the 65th minute.
The 4-0 win for Sevco lifts them up into second place ahead of Aberdeen on goal difference ahead of the post-split fixtures.
Graeme Murty provided a shock in his line up when Kenny Miller came in for the injured Josh Windass leaving Jason Cummings starting the match on the bench.
The self-styled Cumdog arrived on loan from Nottingham Forest in January but has still to score in the top flight.
Andy Halliday could have played his way into contention for a starting spot against Celtic next Sunday after an outstanding contribution after replacing Greg Docherty in the 62nd minute.
