Scott Bain has taken a parting shot at mediocre Neil McCann.

The goalkeeper copped the blame for a 3-1 defeat from Hamilton Accies in October and never played another game for Dundee.

After bringing in PFA Scotland to a dispute over a two week fine relations between goalkeeper and manager went downhill fast.

This afternoon McCann brings the curtain down on his first full season in management celebrating the fact that Dundee have escaped relegation while Bain prepares for Celtic’s title party.

The goalkeeper stuck by his guns during his Dens Park dispute, with a new four year contract signed there’s little doubt that he came out on top.

You do take a bit of responsibility but I don’t think I’ll ever thank him for what was going on,” Bain told The Sun.

The two parties probably got what they deserved out of what was going on at Dundee. I’m sitting here at Celtic and they are finishing a mediocre season.

It’s been a mad season. It happens all the time. I wouldn’t even call it a disagreement. I didn’t have a disagreement with anyone but whatever went on, the manager wants you out of the door and wants you not to do well. You must stick to your guns and say you do not want to be treated that way.

The Dundee boys that I travelled with know the full story and I got a lot of support from them. They stuck by me but you have to look at yourself and know you’re going to come through it. Like I said, all parties got what they deserved.”

With Craig Gordon nursing a knee injury Bain is in contention for a place in next Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final against Motherwell at Hampden.

Although he isn’t officially entitled to an SPFL winners medal his debut at Ibrox played a significant part in killing off the title delusions of the tribute act.
